So here’s the thing, to be successful; you need to know. First and foremost, about success. What it means and/or takes to be successful. It seems pretty infinitesimal to point out but you just can not, and quite literally will not be successful if you have no comprehension of the term; success. For instance, what is needed… a bachelors, a PHD perhaps? Notice how easily you could spend your entire youth pursuing a bachelors degree, that way you can learn about success when all it takes is a simple tap on the dictionary app, and the resulting desire to use the information acquired correctly thereafter.
Secondly, and most importantly… you have to want it. You have to want to be successful. Once you’ve understood what success (your success) entails, you need to go for it. Put forth as much effort as you think is commended. Depending on how badly you want to achieve that predetermined level of success, you can now decide to either up or lessen the effort, your call. But remember, do not be a slave to your dreams because you have to live too.
Thirdly, the last ingredient and perhaps a rather peculiar one, the one piece, non-interchangeable and just as vital to the entire process as the other two; freewill. Feel free to choose, to say no, to quit and start off on a new project. And like Jennifer Payette puts it; “It’s humbling to start a fresh. It takes a lot of courage but it can be reinvigorating. You just have to put your ego on a shelf and tell it to be quiet.” But you see it’s not just your ego you should be concerned about, your guts too play a vital role. No one out there should tell you how to get there. Nobody knows you better than yourself. Okay, maybe not entirely but only you have the power to ascertain who, when, what & why to be. Don’t disregard that, it’s very important. Create a better you if you can’t figure yourself out. I’ve been down that road a couple of times myself and I can tell you with the utmost certainty that there’s no shame in wanting to be. Kids nowadays call that wannabeism, but isn’t that the entire point to having mentors?
Mould yourself, take charge of your life more. “To be successful therefore, you need not to know who you are, but who to be.”
